Welcome to the official website of the Berkshire Golf Captains
Berkshire Golf Captains was founded just over 66 years ago in 1959 with the object of providing golfing and social opportunities for current and Past Captains of affiliated Berkshire Golf Clubs. The thirteen member clubs are listed in the Constitution and Rules which sets out the eligibility criteria and other useful information.
A full programme of events is offered including the Spring Meeting, Captain’s Day and Autumn Meetings open to every enrolled Captain. Annual matches are arranged against several other County’s Captains as well as the Berkshire Golf Secretaries and the Berkshire Ladies Captains.
A message from the Captain:
"Berkshire Golf Captains is very close to my heart having been an active member for 26 years with nigh on 10 of them as Honorary Secretary. Throughout that time it has been a pleasure connecting with kindred spirits with a love of our fabulous and frustrating sport who are bound together by the shared experience of captaining our clubs. I consider myself very fortunate to count many of you as personal friends.
It is a great privilege to be your Captain for 2026. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible at the programme of meetings and matches that your hardworking committee have arranged for the coming year. Do please put in bids to play in matches when Tony Payne sends out details around February. Also, look out for information from our Honorary Secretary, Mike Hurst, about the meetings, the first of which is at East Berkshire Golf Club on 7 May. A special welcome also to the BGC committee for Mike Foster, Vice Captain, and Martin Green, Treasurer.
I’m sure you will all be delighted to join me in congratulating Roger Beavis, our new President, but no doubt sad that he will no longer be relieving us all of £5 for the ball sweep at each meeting!
Happy golfing in 2026!"
